LFW: Day 1 Bora Aksu - Twenties Texture

My first show of this season was Bora Aksu at London Fashion Week - Crocheted headbands worn low on the forehead, hair slicked back close to the head, dropped waists, modern-day flapper dresses with semi-circular lace appliques, and high necks that were elongated by the decade-defining cut. A collection that oozed 20s glamour through and through.

The Dolly sisters have been a major inspiration to this collection. Aside from the accidents, addiction and suicide, Aksu stated that "for a few short years however, they were amongst the greatest and glamorous women in the world.

It was a collection of contrasts and the duality of the Dolly Sisters lives are shown through the silhouettes and juxtaposing fabrics. Turkish leather with fur trims, luxe leather tops were met with waves of peals and shearling, loose silhouettes were put into shape by laced-up corsets, neutral palettes were injected by shots of pink and purple.

*I missed out this part for the show report I wrote for a magazine... the only thing really annoyed me about this show was that...but this is my own website so it's allowed...right?.. If you are brave enough to go bare legs in winter, go bare legs(whore). If you want to wear a white shift dress and you are too cold (of course nude colour tights are not an option) then just don't wear white at all. you. can't. wear. black. tights. with. white. dresses.

No.

LFW: Felder Felder AW13/14

- Felder Felder Outlaw collection -

The show opened with a wine red pony hair panelled wool-blench trench and ended with two models wrapped up warm in white and grey faux fur coats and high waisted leather buckled belts.

The designers have always been inspired by organic patterns and textures. This season, texture is something that is definitely not lacking at the Felder Felder show. Embossed floor length velvet dress, caramel hue patent leather trousers, quilted organza coats, ribbed latex macs also came later in the show... The Outlaw collection is inspired by the work and spirit of 70's skateboarder Tony Alva and photographer Sarah Moon. A creation when Moon's urban cityscape romantic meets the glam rock king.

Rumor has it for next season, the sisters are planning on going back to school?

It's A Boy Girl Thing

Lanvin S/S13

Somewhere between masculine and feminine, symmetry and asymmetry, deep cut V neck and thigh high slit, puffs and points, cuts that made the tuxedo jackets someway between being a dress and a kimono wrap.

The entire show is a mixture of black and white, there is no wrong or right, "It' about purity and precision, not control or minimalism' says Alber Elbaz. With the box-cut shapes, more body-conscious style and the new colour palette, Elbaz is writing a whole new chapter in the Lanvin story.

J.W Anderson X Topshop

Hope Christmas was a merry one and that you all had a messy new year? Lots of good Christmas sales shopping in between? I am all the above, with too much food.

Went into Topshop for the first time in many many many many many years. MANY. Surprisingly, found myself a few pieces from the J.W. Anderson x Topshop collection.

I was very tempted to purchase the logo print umbrella too, but one thing I have learnt to do (which would have been a little more economical if I had done so in the past) – hold up an item and ask yourself
'Do I like it or do I love it?’ if love,
‘Would I still be thinking about it before bed tonight if I hadn’t buy it?’

If the answer is yes. Do it. And so I did. Money well spent..

If you haven't heard already...

My very first R-T-W clothing collection will be launching (was last month) soon....? if my photographer ever decide to finish editing the photos. Philip, DO THE PHOTOS. Extremely sorry about the delay, who would have thought setting up your own clothing label at the age of 19 would be so difficult..

In July, I flown over to Shanghai and Hangzhou, where the fashion house and factories are based. I got to meet the team of people that I will be working with in the coming years, meeting the designers from the fashion house and most importantly, to begin the preparation for my new line.

My schedule was filled with "must-dos and must-go" while my mother was being very well looked after and driven to places on her "must-see and must-buy" list. I was either working in the office, being driven to different factories and getting free designer samples (not complaining at all) or working in the factories, re-designing and selecting pieces that might be suitable for A/W 2013 - 2014 Hong Kong Fashion Week.

My very own office!

MA CREW!

Lovely sewist working on my designs
